Before he was Leroy Jethro Gibbs on “NCIS,” Mark Harmon played quarterback for UCLA in 1972 and 1973. He also appeared in this 1972 Product 19 commercial with his father Tom, the 1940 Heisman Trophy winner for Michigan.
I don’t agree with everything he writes or says, but Basketball Hall of Famer Kareem Abdul-Jabbar makes some excellent points in this Time magazine piece.
Suppose you came across a picture of a run-down big city neighborhood. Would you be able to identify when the photo was taken? 1960? 1970? 1980? 1990? 2000? 2010? Chances are you couldn’t. I don’t know that I could either, unless the photo included people whose clothing and hairstyles might provide the answer.
In National Review, Kevin D. Williamson asks the question: “Who Lost the Cities?” My father loves to visit different cities, receive their monthly magazines, and examine why some succeed and some fail. In addition, I have included the Pretenders’ “My City Was Gone.” It’s the theme song for America’s #1 talk-show host.
