Here is what I wrote about LA Clippers coach Glenn “Doc” Rivers on April 30:
“Four years ago, Doc Rivers and the Boston Celtics squared off against Phil Jackson and the Los Angeles Lakers in a thrilling seven-game NBA Finals. The Lakers took the series four games to three, but the Celtics fought bravely. Now, four years later, could Doc end up working for Phil? Imagine two such basketball minds forming a coach/GM “Dream Team.” Is it possible?
Yes. Here’s how. Jackson has met with Steve Kerr about the Knicks’ head coaching job. However, if Doc does not return to the Clippers because he won’t work for a racist, then perhaps Phil would be interested.
Here’s something else to consider: No matter which teams gets Rivers, it will — or should not — have to provide compensation to the Clippers (even though Rivers is under contract). The NBA will not give the Clippers a compensatory first round pick because their coach does not want to work for the team’s racist owner (Donald Sterling).”
Now, Kerr has signed to coach the Golden State Warriors. The Knicks’ job is still open and “Doc’s” future is unclear now that the LA Clippers’ season is over.. Let’s see if ESPN or Fox can play catch-up!
