“More Meaningless Stats from ESPN”

For his career, LA Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez has 26 home runs and 84 RBI against the Arizona Diamondbacks. ESPN acts as if this is an astonishing feat. True, Gonzalez is one of the best hitters in the game. However, since he has spent most of his career in the National League West (with San Diego and now the Dodgers), it is not surprising that his numbers against Arizona — also a member of the NL West — look so awesome. After all, division rivals do face each other 19 times a year. I’ll bet he has very few home runs against the Indians.
